The retail chain known as The Original Factory Shop has recently taken the step of appointing administrators amid financial challenges. Interpath Advisory has been brought in to handle the administration process, potentially affecting 137 stores and 1,180 employees.

Although the stores are currently operating normally, the online arm of the business has been temporarily closed while administrators evaluate the situation. The company has cited reasons such as high cost inflation, increased labor expenses, and reduced consumer spending as contributing factors to its financial struggles.

Compounding these issues are complications related to the third-party warehouse and logistics provider. Established in 1969, The Original Factory Shop was acquired by Modella Capital last year.

Rick Harrison, the joint administrator and Managing Director at Interpath, expressed regret over the situation, emphasizing the company’s historical significance in local communities. Plans are underway to work closely with the dedicated staff to maintain store operations and explore potential solutions for the business going forward.
