Apple’s AirTag is a must-have for those who often misplace their keys. Launched in 2021, these small disc-shaped trackers have gained popularity for their ability to pinpoint lost items on a map. AirTags can be easily attached to keys, placed in bags, laptop cases, or luggage.
The latest AirTag model, just unveiled by Apple, boasts an upgraded Ultra Wideband chip, offering a significantly enhanced range. This advancement improves Precision Finding by up to 50%, making it easier to locate lost items from a greater distance. Additionally, select Apple Watch models now support Precision Finding, enabling users to track misplaced items from their wrists.
With a redesigned internal speaker, the new AirTag emits sounds that are 50% louder than its predecessor, aiding in locating it in hard-to-reach places. These AirTags operate within Apple’s Find My network, leveraging nearby Apple devices to anonymously relay location updates to the owner. Apple emphasizes the privacy of this system, ensuring that AirTags do not store location history and all communication with the Find My network is encrypted end-to-end.
Moreover, the new AirTag seamlessly integrates with Share Item Location, an iOS feature allowing users to securely share an item’s location with trusted parties, such as airlines. Apple has collaborated with over 50 airlines to support this functionality.
The latest AirTag can now be ordered on apple.com/uk and the Apple Store app, with in-store availability coming soon. Prices start at £29 for a single AirTag or £99 for a pack of four, offering a more affordable option compared to the original launch price of £35.
