King Charles has reaffirmed the UK’s support for Ukraine, expressing solidarity with the nation during the ongoing Russian invasion. In a message marking the first anniversary of the 100-Year Partnership between the UK and Ukraine, King Charles emphasized the importance of achieving a lasting peace that upholds Ukraine’s security, sovereignty, and prosperity.

Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy reportedly traveled to Ukraine for a forum on the centenary partnership to discuss future collaboration between the two countries. King Charles, in his statement, acknowledged the approaching fourth anniversary of Russia’s invasion and extended his thoughts and prayers to the people of Ukraine during this challenging time.

The King conveyed his sincere hope for Ukraine to attain a just and enduring peace that ensures its well-being, stating, “We stand with you.” King Charles has been a vocal supporter of Ukraine since the early stages of the invasion, engaging with Ukrainian refugees in the UK and featuring the choir Songs for Ukraine Chorus in his recent Christmas Day broadcast.

Additionally, King Charles has met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, demonstrating his support for the country’s leadership in the face of adversity. The UK-Ukraine partnership, encompassing a treaty and a political declaration, focuses on enhancing military cooperation, maritime security, healthcare collaboration, disease prevention, agricultural technology, and space industry development. The partnership also includes initiatives for cultural exchanges and educational projects to strengthen ties between the two nations.

Reflecting on the first anniversary of the partnership, King Charles expressed his optimism for the flourishing relationship between the UK and Ukraine to provide hope and moral support during these challenging times. The royal family’s solidarity with Ukraine has been evident through their visits to charities aiding refugees and their public statements on the conflict.
