In a tragic incident, a mother lost her life when her son accidentally backed his Range Rover into her outside a medical facility. The woman, Celia Adams, aged 81 and a former shop owner from Rossendale, tragically passed away in a hospital ten days later due to the injuries sustained in the accident.
The unfortunate event took place at a GP surgery in Denbigh, North Wales, where Mrs. Adams had an appointment at 9:30 am. Her son, Ian Adams, had parked in a temporary bay and was guiding her around the vehicle when the accident occurred. Unaware of his mother’s position, he reversed the car, leading to the tragic collision.
Following the incident, Mrs. Adams was immediately taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd and later transferred to the Royal Stoke University Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. The coroner’s inquest in Ruthin concluded that her death was accidental.
Mr. Adams explained that he had briefly parked near the surgery entrance and had walked his mother around the car before the tragic mishap occurred. Despite his efforts to check for oncoming traffic, the accident happened, resulting in severe injuries to Mrs. Adams.
The coroner, John Gittins, stated that Mrs. Adams’ cause of death was respiratory failure due to multiple rib fractures sustained in the accident, aggravated by her underlying condition of osteoporosis. He emphasized the fragility of her ribs, noting that medical interventions were limited due to their extreme delicacy.
The coroner ruled the fall and subsequent collision as accidental, recording the cause of death as such. Mrs. Adams, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was remembered by her family and friends as a compassionate and kind-hearted individual with a deep love for dogs and a history of helping animals in need.
Her family, in a touching tribute, described her as the pillar of their family and requested privacy to mourn their profound loss. The community mourned the loss of Mrs. Adams, highlighting her warm personality and generous spirit in their memories of her.
