Nigel Farage has withdrawn from the BBC’s prominent political show, citing health reasons, according to Reform UK.
The leader of Reform UK was scheduled to appear on the Sunday program hosted by Laura Kuenssberg, following recent announcements about a Conservative MP defecting to the party. Instead, Richard Tice, the deputy leader of Reform UK, represented the party on the show.
Laura Kuenssberg expressed that they anticipated Nigel Farage’s presence but were informed by Reform UK that he was unwell. Consequently, Richard Tice stepped in at short notice.
Meanwhile, there were reports suggesting that Cabinet minister Lisa Nandy had raised concerns within her circles about the potential of a government led by Mr. Farage being “fascist.”
During an interview on Sky News, Lisa Nandy refrained from repeating the specifics of discussions held in a confidential Cabinet meeting. However, she did comment on Reform UK and Mr. Farage, emphasizing her personal background and experiences with attempts to target and vilify certain groups of people.
Lisa Nandy highlighted that the root cause of the country’s issues does not lie with migrants or individuals of different ethnicities but with a specific group that Mr. Farage is embracing within his party.
When asked directly about labeling a Farage-led government as “fascist,” Lisa Nandy avoided categorizing but drew from her personal encounters with divisive tactics and emphasized the importance of recognizing patterns of behavior.
