This innovative tool allows users to search for shows based on mood, themes, plot details, or quotes, eliminating the need for specific titles. By simply describing what they want to watch, such as mentioning a character or genre, viewers can easily find relevant content from live TV, on-demand services, and streaming apps all in one place.
In addition to Smart Search, EE is also introducing Mood Matcher, an AI-powered tool that further assists viewers in narrowing down their choices based on preferences like mood, genres, and themes. This personalized recommendation feature is ideal for families looking to streamline their selection process, especially on movie nights.
Luciano Oliveira, Director of Product, Home & TV at EE, emphasized the user-friendly nature of these new tools, stating that they aim to simplify the viewing experience for households. While similar voice search features are available from competitors like Sky, EE distinguishes itself as the first pay-TV service in the UK to offer conversational, AI-powered search capabilities.
According to technology analyst Paolo Pescatore, the enhanced content discovery provided by EE’s Smart Search and Mood Matcher contributes to an improved viewing experience in a landscape saturated with content choices. These features are currently accessible through the EE TV app on compatible televisions, with support for EE TV Pro and EE TV Box Edge devices set to arrive soon.
