Liverpool Women’s player Rafaela Borggrafe has been handed a six-game suspension by the Football Association for making a racist remark related to skin color. The 25-year-old goalkeeper has already served five matches of the ban and was last seen in Liverpool’s squad in late November.

The incident reportedly took place during pre-season while the team was gathering for a group photo. Borggrafe’s teammates and coaches raised concerns about the alleged remark.

Following an internal investigation by Liverpool, the matter was escalated to the FA. Borggrafe, who has played three times for the first team since joining from Freiburg, has accepted the punishment and has been instructed to participate in an educational program.

Details of the disciplinary case have not been disclosed for player welfare reasons, and Liverpool has chosen not to make additional comments. Liverpool manager Gareth Taylor confirmed that Borggrafe’s ban will conclude after serving the final match on Sunday.

Liverpool Women are currently at the bottom of the Women’s Super League, having not won any of their first 12 games and scoring only eight goals. Taylor emphasized the importance of avoiding complacency in their upcoming FA Cup match against London Bees, highlighting the need to convert opportunities into goals.

Sky has introduced a discounted Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the upcoming season, offering savings and a broader range of live matches, including up to 215 live Premier League games.
