A physician has shared a distressing account of his efforts to aid Alex Pretti after the individual was shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis. The incident, which occurred on January 24 amid protests against ICE agents and the Trump administration’s immigration policies, resulted in Pretti’s tragic death.

According to the doctor, instead of providing immediate medical assistance, the federal agents reportedly counted the number of gunshot wounds sustained by Pretti. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) asserted that the agents fired in self-defense, citing Pretti’s alleged possession of a handgun during the protest.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara stated that Pretti, a registered nurse in the ICU, held a valid permit to carry a firearm. However, there is no evidence suggesting that Pretti posed a threat to law enforcement officers during the demonstration.

An eyewitness, identified as a physician in court documents, contradicted the DHS’s claims by affirming that they did not witness Pretti brandishing a weapon or attacking the agents. The witness recounted that ICE agents pushed Pretti to the ground before multiple agents aimed their guns at him and fired multiple shots.

The witness also mentioned that while they attempted to treat Pretti’s injuries, the ICE agents seemed more focused on counting his wounds rather than providing medical assistance. The witness expressed confusion over the agents’ actions, emphasizing the standard practice of checking for a pulse and administering CPR in such situations.

Alex Pretti, described as a compassionate individual, was remembered for his efforts to protect others before being fatally shot by an ICE agent. Witnesses reported a chaotic scene where multiple agents subdued Pretti before one agent fired multiple shots at him. Despite the gunfire, the agents reportedly made no effort to revive Pretti, leaving his motionless body unattended.

Witnesses described hearing a total of 10 gunshots during the incident, which unfolded in broad daylight, shocking onlookers. Allegations surfaced that the ICE agents did not attempt to resuscitate Pretti after the shooting, prompting further scrutiny of the events that led to his tragic death.
