A young individual is in critical condition after a shark attack at a renowned beach in Sydney, Australia. The incident occurred when the boy, approximately 13 years old, was leaping off rocks at the shoreline. The emergency services swiftly responded to the scene at Shark Beach in Sydney Harbour on Sunday around 4:20 PM.

Authorities from New South Wales Police reported that the boy was rescued from the water by Marine Area Command and Eastern Suburbs Police after the shark bite was reported. The police officers provided immediate first aid, including applying medical tourniquets for severe leg injuries before transferring the victim to Rose Bay wharf for further medical attention.

Multiple emergency resources were mobilized, including an intensive care paramedic, aeromedical teams, and a helicopter, to attend to the teenager with critical leg injuries. The patient was then transported to Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick in a critical condition.

Situated in the affluent suburb of Vaucluse, Shark Beach is known for its netted swimming area and open waters. While shark attacks are uncommon in the Sydney area, the beach has been temporarily closed, and swimmers are advised to avoid the water.
