Ralph Bulger, father of James Bulger, has declared his determination to oppose the release of “monster” Jon Venables, the man responsible for his son’s death. Venables, now 43, committed the heinous crime when he was a young boy, along with his accomplice Robert Thompson. The tragic incident took place in 1993 when the two-year-old James was abducted from a shopping center in Merseyside.

Despite spending the last two decades behind bars, Venables is now seeking parole, a move vehemently contested by Ralph Bulger. Bulger expressed his intent to attend the upcoming Parole Board hearing, along with his ex-wife Denise Fergus, to confront the convicted murderer and ensure justice for his son.

The emotional father stressed his enduring love for James and his unwavering determination to stand up against Venables, citing the pain and devastation caused to his family over the past 33 years. Each parole bid by Venables has reopened old wounds for Bulger, making it an excruciating experience, especially as they coincide with significant anniversaries related to James’ tragic death.

Reflecting on the impending decision, Bulger expressed his ongoing anguish and sleepless nights, fearing the potential release of the man responsible for his son’s murder. Venables, who has faced multiple parole attempts and legal issues, was denied parole in 2023 due to concerns about his potential danger to children and his lack of openness with professionals.

The parole board highlighted the need for Venables to address his risks and improve his relationship with his probation officer before considering his release. Bulger remains resolute in his mission to prevent Venables from harming another child, ensuring that the “monster” remains incarcerated for the safety of the public.
