Despite Google’s assurance that personal data remains private and secure, some users may prefer to disable AI features in Gmail to maintain their privacy. Google clarified that its foundational AI models, such as Gemini, do not train on personal emails. Gemini in Gmail only processes specific tasks like summarizing emails and does not retain data. Users have the option to untick the smart box in Gmail if they are uncomfortable with AI scanning.
