Tributes are pouring in following the untimely passing of former NASCAR driver, Chase Pistone, at the age of 42. While the cause of death has not been disclosed, Pistone’s family has requested that the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline be shared alongside any coverage of his demise. Confirming the sad news on social media, Chase’s brother, Nick, expressed his deep sorrow over the loss.
“NASCAR icon Bubba Wallace also expressed condolences, reflecting on a fellow racer he competed with in legends cars who took his own life,” read a section of Wallace’s tribute post. Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, Chase Pistone was the grandson of the renowned driver ‘Tiger’ Tom Pistone, a two-time winner in the NASCAR Cup Series.
Throughout his career, Pistone claimed victory in over 80 feature events across various racing categories. Notably, he secured four Summer Shootout Champions Legends wins between 1999 and 2005. Beginning his NASCAR journey in 2005 in the Craftsman Truck Series under Green Light Racing, Pistone competed in a total of 10 races across NASCAR’s national series before concluding his time in the sport in 2014.
Phaedra, Pistone’s sister-in-law, reached out to Hickory Motor Speedway, requesting a tribute to Chase’s memory at the venue’s upcoming race. Hickory Motor Speedway responded positively, emphasizing their commitment to honoring Pistone’s legacy. General Manager Kevin Piercy fondly remembered Chase as a cheerful presence and expressed gratitude for their shared passion for racing at Hickory Motor Speedway.
