A private jet with eight occupants crashed shortly after departing from a bustling airport in the United States amidst heavy snowfall. The incident involving a Bombardier Challenger 600 occurred at around 7:45 pm at Maine’s Bangor International Airport. The conditions of the individuals aboard remain unknown, as investigations by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are ongoing.

The crash took place during a significant winter storm affecting New England and various parts of the country, leading to continuous snowfall in Bangor and other regions. Emergency crews responded to the scene at the airport, which was subsequently closed following an incident involving a single departing aircraft.

Reports from Bangor International Airport indicated an ongoing investigation into the incident, with first responders assessing the situation on-site and advising the public to avoid the airport premises. Prior to takeoff, recorded audio revealed discussions between the pilot and air traffic control regarding poor visibility caused by adverse weather conditions. Despite receiving clearance for takeoff from runway 33, air traffic control later announced a halt in all field traffic, stating an aircraft had overturned, with three crew members and potentially five passengers onboard.

Bangor International Airport, located approximately 200 miles north of Boston, offers direct flights to cities such as Orlando, Washington DC, and Charlotte. The severe weekend storm affected air and road travel across the eastern US, leading to flight cancellations and delays. Commercial air traffic disruptions extended to major hubs like Philadelphia, Washington, Baltimore, North Carolina, New York, and New Jersey.

The Bombardier Challenger 600, introduced in 1980 as the first private jet featuring a spacious cabin layout, remains a popular choice for charter services, accommodating nine to 11 passengers. Amidst the challenging weather conditions and aviation disruptions, flight operations faced significant setbacks across the country, impacting thousands of travelers and airlines.
