A man was tragically discovered dead next to a road after being attacked by his own pet dog while out for a walk. Authorities revealed that the 33-year-old was found lifeless in a roadside ditch in Lohne, Germany. Despite efforts from medical personnel, the dog, identified as an American Bulldog, remained by the man’s side.
Following a postmortem examination, it was determined that the man’s injuries were consistent with a dog attack, leading investigators to believe that the man’s own dog was responsible for his death. The dog has been taken into custody and is currently under evaluation at an animal shelter. Emergency responders encountered difficulties due to the dog’s protective behavior around the man.
Vanessa Bokr, a dog expert, suggested that the dog may have attacked its owner after being prevented from chasing something. American Bulldogs, a breed distinct from the banned American XL Bully in the UK, have been associated with several fatal incidents in various countries.
In a separate incident, a toddler in the US was fatally attacked by an American Bulldog after entering an enclosure at his grandmother’s residence. The child sustained severe injuries and succumbed to them despite immediate medical attention. The grandmother also suffered injuries while trying to intervene in the attack. The dog was euthanized at the family’s request.
Additionally, a baby in the United Kingdom required urgent medical treatment after being bitten on the face by the family’s American Bulldog in Doncaster. The infant suffered serious facial injuries and had reportedly shown signs of aggression from the dog before. The animal is currently in a kennel awaiting further evaluation as the investigation continues.
