The Montreal Roses made a significant decision to terminate their first head coach, Robert Rositoiu, following their exit from the W Canadian Championship. Marinette Pichon, the club’s sporting director, delivered the news in a press release on Thursday, expressing gratitude to Rositoiu for establishing the foundation of the professional women’s soccer team during its early stages.
While acknowledging the difficulty of parting ways with a coach, Pichon emphasized the necessity for a fresh approach to propel the club forward for the remainder of the season and future growth.
Currently positioned second in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points and 10 matches remaining in the regular season, the Roses are seeking a new direction under interim head coach Maryse Bard-Martel. Bard-Martel, previously the team’s first assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will lead the team in the upcoming match against AFC Toronto.
Rositoiu took on the role of head coach in September 2024 in preparation for the Roses’ debut season in the NSL in 2025. The club is now actively working on selecting a permanent replacement for Rositoiu to steer the team’s future endeavors.
