Luke Littler secured his second PDC World Championship title with a resounding 7-1 victory over Gian van Veen at Alexandra Palace. Despite dropping the first set, the 18-year-old stormed back to claim the Sid Worrell Trophy.

In an unexpected turn of events during the final match, Littler was momentarily halted by a wasp, and the organizers had to replace the dartboard due to Van Veen’s blood staining it.

The young champion is set to receive a substantial prize of £1 million, as the winners’ purse has doubled from last year. Van Veen, on the other hand, will take home £400,000 for his impressive journey to the final.

Sir Chris Hoy, a cycling icon and seven-time Olympic medalist currently battling prostate cancer, presented Littler and Van Veen with their trophies on stage.

Littler now joins the ranks of darts legends like Phil Taylor, Adrian Lewis, and Gary Anderson as the fourth player in history to achieve back-to-back world titles.

Expressing his joy, Littler thanked the event hosts and reflected on his victory, mentioning the pressure of being down 1-0 but rallying to success. He praised Van Veen’s performance in the tournament.

The question now arises: will Luke Littler be remembered as the greatest darts player of all time? Share your thoughts in the comments.

Regarding the significant prize money, Littler highlighted its life-changing impact and emphasized his rise to the top of the rankings. He received accolades for his exceptional performance, with former champion John Part commending his remarkable talent.

Van Veen admitted to a subpar performance in the final, acknowledging Littler’s dominance and missed opportunities on his part. He recognized Littler’s status as the world number one and consecutive world champion.
