Jake Paul’s promotion company has issued a statement following allegations against his upcoming opponent, Gervonta Davis, involving battery, false imprisonment, and kidnapping made by an ex-partner.

The scheduled exhibition fight between Paul and Davis in Miami on November 14 has sparked controversy due to the serious accusations against Davis, who competes in the lightweight division while Paul is in the cruiserweight category. Although the match won’t affect their professional records, a winner will be determined through stoppage or by a panel of two human judges and an AI official if it goes the distance.

Amid calls for the fight’s cancellation, reports hinted at Paul considering Ryan Garcia as a replacement for Davis. However, Paul’s promotional company, Most Valuable Promotions, clarified that no decision has been finalized. The company stated they are actively investigating the civil lawsuit filed against Davis and emphasized their commitment to addressing the matter meticulously and impartially before making any decisions.

Davis has not publicly responded to the allegations yet, but his trainer dismissed them as baseless. The lawsuit accuses Davis of assaulting his former partner at her workplace on October 27 and alleges multiple instances of physical abuse. The ex-partner is seeking damages and a jury trial.

Meanwhile, Garcia’s participation in a potential bout with Paul has been ruled out due to contractual obligations with different promotions. Paul may postpone his return to the ring until December and has been rumored to be in talks with heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua, though a deal in the short term seems unlikely.
