A young boy from Calgary who was saved from drowning in a river in British Columbia is currently recovering in the hospital with severe lung damage. Paul-Angelo Warren, aged nine, was swimming and diving in the Shuswap River near Enderby on August 3 when he failed to resurface after going underwater.
His mother, Maria Warren, mentioned that bystanders at the beach quickly acted to rescue him, pulling him out of the water shortly after he went missing. According to a statement from the RCMP, the river’s strong current trapped the boy against fallen tree debris before he was rescued and administered CPR on the shore.
Authorities suspect that he may have been submerged for up to 10 minutes. Presently, the child is undergoing treatment at Vancouver Children’s Hospital, where his family remains by his side.
Maria Warren expressed her constant presence by her son’s bedside, emphasizing her desire for him to awaken and immediately see her and hear her voice.
