Ghosts Roaming Blood Alley

Among the spectral inhabitants, the Woman in Black and the Man in Black of Gaoler’s Mews stand out for me.
The Alhambra Hotel, constructed in 1887 post the Great Vancouver Fire, was known for its luxury and comprehensive services. While many old hotels harbor ghostly legends, a prominent apparition frequents Gaoler’s Mews. She often appears on dark, rainy nights as a striking woman in black attire, believed to be a widow heading towards Blood Alley, where a hangman’s noose once hung. Following her, the Man in Black, a well-dressed gentleman, is often seen entering a nearby restaurant, leaving many pondering the nature of their relationship.
During a recent tour, a mother and daughter from Calgary reported a man in a top hat observing them from a window above Twisted Fork, hinting at the spectral presence in the area.

The Legend of the Headless Nun
