A global coalition of soccer fan organizations has initiated a petition demanding Gianni Infantino’s resignation as FIFA president following an attempt to offer future World Cup profits to private investors. The petition, using the hashtag InfantinOut, also urges a reconstruction of FIFA to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The petition denounced Infantino’s proposal for a commercial offshoot as a “shameful attempt” by the FIFA President, leading to a widespread football community backlash that forced him to abandon the plan. Notable signatories to the petition include Football Supporters Europe, Football Supporters Africa, the Independent Supporters Council in North America, and approximately 40 national fan groups globally.

Despite facing opposition from UEFA, CONCACAF, and the Asian Football Confederation, Infantino has refused to step down. The fan coalition criticized his leadership style, described as undemocratic, centralized, lacking transparency, and with no accountability, eroding trust in FIFA.

The petition calls for Infantino’s resignation to restore FIFA’s credibility and safeguard the sport’s future. It highlights past controversial projects supported by Infantino, such as the European Super League and the proposition for biennial World Cups. This recent development adds to the growing discontent surrounding his tenure.
