An influential political expert has indicated that the decline of Donald Trump might be underway amid mounting worries about suppression in the United States.
In the aftermath of the fatal shootings of civilians Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti by ICE agents, there has been a growing sense of unease surrounding the state of democracy in the country.
The concerns have been exacerbated by the detention of journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort, sparking concerns regarding press freedom within the nation.
Nevertheless, political analyst Andrew Neil has suggested that with the increasing speculation surrounding Trump’s physical and mental well-being, his regime might already be on a downward trajectory.
In a piece for the Daily Mail, Andrew proposed that a rising number of dissatisfied Republicans and Trump’s declining popularity could create an opportunity for more moderate politicians to fill the void left by MAGA politics.
He remarked: “The deterioration of the Trump presidency is likely already in progress. If it concludes quietly and disappointingly rather than dramatically, it will empower more moderate Republicans to assert themselves, subsequently encouraging Democrats to stay within the mainstream rather than veer to the Left.”
Andrew, a former broadcaster for BBC and GB News, added that even if Trump exits office, his style of political strategy will have permanently reshaped America.
He mentioned: “A return to pre-Trump American politics seems unlikely. However, America does not need to be stuck in the current chaos indefinitely.”
Andrew’s comments came following the arrest of two journalists, former CNN anchor Don Lemon and Georgia Fort, earlier in the week, triggering apprehension among press freedom advocates who have since responded to the detentions.
Don was taken into custody on charges of violating federal law while covering a protest at a church in Minnesota recently. The justice department alleged that Don and three others had disrupted religious activities at a place of worship, accusations that Don denies.
Georgia Fort, another journalist who was arrested, posted a video on social media showing federal agents outside her home. Upon release
