Android users are advised to promptly update their devices to address a critical security vulnerability discovered by Google. The issue involves certain Dolby audio components that could potentially allow hackers to exploit the system through audio attachments. Google has already addressed the problem on its own devices and is now rolling out the fix for all Android phones.

Adam Boynton, Senior Security Strategy Manager EMEIA at Jamf, emphasized the importance of not overlooking the seriousness of this security flaw. The vulnerability, known as CVE-2025-54957, affects Dolby’s DD+ Unified Decoder, enabling attackers to execute malicious code without user interaction. While Android users are particularly at risk, Apple users are also encouraged to update their devices promptly to safeguard personal data.

Regularly updating devices is highlighted as a crucial measure to mitigate mobile security risks, regardless of the operating system being used. To ensure your Android phone is up to date, follow these steps:
1. Access the Settings app on your device.
2. Navigate to System and then Software updates.
3. Check for the update status.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update process.
