Amazon has unveiled its latest addition to its streaming device lineup, introducing the Fire TV Stick HD. Priced at £39.99, this new entry-level gadget boasts features that surpass its predecessors. Notably, it is 30% slimmer, making it more convenient to place behind TVs and easier to carry around for on-the-go use.
One standout feature of the Fire TV Stick HD is its power source – it now draws power directly from the TV’s USB port, eliminating the need for a separate power adapter. Amazon highlighted the device’s compact design, emphasizing its sleekness and improved fit behind TVs.
Similar to previous Fire TV Sticks, the Fire TV Stick HD offers access to popular streaming services like Disney+, Apple TV, Prime Video, iPlayer, ITVX, and Netflix. It also includes a remote with Alexa voice search and quick app-launch buttons for user convenience.
While the Fire TV Stick HD does not support 4K resolution, it provides full HD viewing, suitable for most household needs. Amazon touts significant speed enhancements with this new model, claiming it is over 30% faster than its predecessor, resulting in quicker boot times and app loading.
The device comes with the latest Fire operating system, promising a cleaner interface, enhanced recommendations, and a streamlined content discovery experience. Scheduled for release on April 29th, the Fire TV Stick HD is set to offer an upgraded streaming experience at an affordable price point.
