Fire TV Stick owners in the UK are reportedly facing a crackdown on illegal streaming by Amazon. The company had previously announced this initiative to combat the use of its own-brand devices for unofficial streaming. The popularity of unauthorized Fire TV Sticks has been on the rise as consumers seek alternative ways to access premium content without paying for subscriptions.

Amazon’s efforts to block piracy are part of a broader program led by the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) to prevent the distribution of pirated content through various apps. The ban on certain apps started in parts of Europe last November and has now extended to UK users, with some receiving messages indicating that their apps no longer work due to providing access to unlicensed content.

While not all users are currently affected, Amazon’s actions signal a shift towards stricter enforcement against unauthorized streaming on Fire TV Sticks. In addition to blocking certain apps, the company is also preventing the installation of apps that enable access to unlicensed content. Users attempting to install such apps are now met with notifications explaining the block and directing them to Amazon’s support pages for legitimate content options.

As the crackdown intensifies, more users are expected to experience disruptions in their streaming capabilities, marking a significant change in the landscape of free streaming on Fire TV Sticks.
