A man facing charges in the murder case of Victoria Hall, a 17-year-old from Trimley St Mary, Suffolk, over 25 years ago, has a history of previous convictions for killing five other women. Victoria Hall went missing after leaving her home on the evening of September 18, 1999, to visit the Bandbox nightclub in Felixstowe with a friend. Her body was found in a ditch in Creeting St Peter, approximately 25 miles away from where she was last seen.
Steve Wright, 66, formerly residing on London Road, Ipswich, has been accused of kidnapping and murdering Victoria, along with attempting to kidnap another woman in Felixstowe. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges. The presiding judge, Mr. Justice Bennathan, has approved the disclosure of Wright’s previous convictions for five other murders to the jury before his upcoming trial at the Old Bailey next month.
During a pre-trial hearing on Wednesday, the defendant, appearing via videolink from HMP Long Lartin, was remanded in custody in anticipation of his trial at the Old Bailey scheduled to commence on February 2.
