During a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, President Donald Trump caused a stir by repeatedly confusing Greenland with Iceland. The mix-up occurred as Trump claimed NATO used to refer to him as “daddy” until he informed them about Iceland. Despite the blunders, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt defended Trump, stating that the public misunderstood his remarks.
In addition to the Greenland-Iceland confusion, Trump also stumbled over the pronunciation of Azerbaijan, calling it “Aberbaijan.” However, he correctly identified Armenia this time, after previously mistaking it for Albania.
Trump asserted America’s global dominance to over 60 world leaders at the summit, claiming that only the United States could secure Greenland. Leavitt praised Trump’s speech, describing it as a huge success with positive reviews from attendees.
Despite some geographical slip-ups, Trump’s speech at Davos was well-received and was seen as striking an inspirational tone with the audience.
