Motorists are experiencing disruptions on a busy motorway that has been closed in both directions due to a police incident. The M5 is currently shut between junction 13 for Stroud and junction 14 for Dursley/Falfield following a morning crash.

According to National Highways, the closure is a result of a Gloucestershire Police-led incident reported at 11:45 am. Traffic Officers are present, coordinating with emergency services to clear the affected area.

Drivers have been informed that the northbound carriageway is expected to remain closed for several hours, with normal traffic conditions anticipated to resume between 9:00 pm and 9:15 pm. Meanwhile, the southbound carriageway between the impacted junctions has been reopened.

Tragically, a pedestrian involved in the collision was pronounced dead at the scene near junction 14 in South Gloucestershire. The incident, which occurred around 11:40 am, involved two lorries and the pedestrian.

National Highways confirms that vehicles within the northbound closure are still being removed. The closure is necessary for ongoing police investigations, with severe delays reported on the A38 diversion route.

Travelers are advised to allow extra time as delays are expected on the approach to the M5 and the A38 diversion route. Gloucestershire Police are at the scene, and motorists are encouraged to seek alternative routes until further updates are provided.

The closure of the M5 between junctions 13 and 14 is anticipated to last for the remainder of the day. Road users are urged to follow the diversion symbols indicated on road signs for their respective directions.

Stay informed with the latest developments on the M5 closure.
