Renowned for his incredible courage and determination, Hari Budha Magar, a former Gurkha, has achieved a groundbreaking feat by becoming the first double amputee to conquer the Seven Summits challenge. This remarkable accomplishment entails reaching the highest peak on each of the world’s seven continents.

Hari recently reached the summit of Mount Vinson in Antarctica on January 7th, where he proudly planted a flag representing Mirror. Despite facing immense challenges, including navigating snow and ice, he ascended 4892m using specially crafted prosthetic legs.

Reflecting on his historic achievement, Hari expressed overwhelming emotions, stating, “Completing the Seven Summits is beyond words. As a person with a disability – with double over knee amputation – I have defied the odds and conquered them all. It’s a deeply moving moment for me.”

Having suffered life-changing injuries in Afghanistan in 2010, Hari battled through despair and attempted to end his life. Now, at 46, he has triumphed over his struggles and embarked on this extraordinary journey to raise funds for five commendable charities.

The Seven Summits challenge, renowned as the pinnacle of mountaineering accomplishments, involves conquering iconic peaks like Mount Everest in Nepal, Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, and Denali in Alaska. Hari’s indomitable spirit and resilience have seen him conquer several summits, including Mont Blanc in France, recognized by the Guinness World Records.

Enduring extreme conditions and physical challenges during his ascent of Mount Vinson, Hari faced moments of doubt and hardship. However, his unwavering determination and the support of his team propelled him to the summit, where he was greeted by a breathtaking view of Antarctica.

Hari’s journey from a humble beginning in Nepal to serving in the British Army and finally achieving monumental feats serves as an inspiring tale of overcoming adversity. His dedication to raising awareness for disability rights and inspiring others to pursue their dreams is a testament to his unwavering commitment.

As he prepares to return to the UK, Hari remains focused on his mission to inspire and uplift individuals worldwide. Through his upcoming book and continued advocacy work, he aims to spread hope and optimism, proving that with perseverance, any obstacle can be surmounted.
