English actress Florence Pugh has candidly shared that her packed schedule leaves little room for romance, and she feels “sympathetic” towards those who fall for her because she’s “tricky”.

The 29 year old star, gearing up for her role as Yelena Belova in the highly anticipated Marvel film Thunderbolts, spoke about the challenges of balancing a bustling career with personal life aspirations.

Pugh, acclaimed for her performances in the romantic drama We Live In Time with Andrew Garfield and as Jean Tatlock in Oppenheimer, opened up to Harper’s Bazaar UK, admitting: “I’m more sympathetic to the people who are in love with me, because it’s not easy.

“I’m tricky – I’m always busy, I can never make dates. But it’s not good enough for me to ask someone to just to accept that. I’ll just end up alone. I don’t want that – I want a family.

“I’ve worked back-to-back since I started, and I’ve missed so much.

“I’ve now come to terms with things that I don’t like about myself and want to change. I don’t want to have things just happen to me any more.”

Previously in a relationship with American actor and director Zach Braff, known for his role as JD in Scrubs, Pugh faced backlash due to their 21-year age difference.

She addressed the negative attention in an Instagram video in April 2020, revealing she had received “hurling abuse” after posting a birthday tribute to Braff, which led her to disable the comments on her post.

The Oxford-born starlet, who is thought to currently be dating Peaky Blinders actor Finn Cole, has graced the big screen as Princess Irulan in Dune: Part Two, sharing the limelight with heavyweights Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya.

Pugh isn’t stopping there, as she’s set to return as the lethal Yelena in the hotly anticipated Marvel flick Thunderbolts, after her thrilling escapades in Black Widow and Hawkeye alongside A-listers Sebastian Stan and David Harbour.

Her latest film exploits saw Pugh taking a daring leap from Kuala Lumpur’s colossal Merdeka 118 skyscraper, smashing stunt records along the way.

With genuine pride, she shared: “I got to do a stunt that has never been done before. My double, the female co-ordinator and I are all now Guinness World Record holders. I give so much of my body to what I do.”

Fans can catch a glimpse of Pugh dazzling on the May cover of Harper’s Bazaar UK, hitting stands April 17, as well as online at www.harpersbazaar.com/uk/florence-pugh..
