A hotel owner drenched a drunk man with water after she found him sleeping in her front garden. Lisa Bell did not take kindly to the boozed up person who had decided to take a nap on her property and her response has divided opinion online with footage showing her going over and pour water over him.

But the 46-year-old, who was expecting guests with young children, said she failed in her initial attempts to get him to leave. So she decided to fill a bucket with ice cold water. Lisa, owner of the Regency Hotel in Blackpool, then casually stepped outside and drenched the man.

The splash appeared to shock him out of his alcohol-induced nap and he was convinced to leave the premises. A CCTV camera picked up the moment on Sunday, April 6. “He was extremely drunk and I couldn’t wake him up,” Lisa Bell told What’s The Jam. “I had a family with young children who were due to arrive any minute. It wouldn’t be a great first impression, seeing him outside.

“He took it well and it worked.” But members of the public were split on her actions. Niall said: “Let the man sleep.” One claimed: “That’s assault by the way, regardless if you think it’s just water or not.”

Another said: “We had a homeless man sleep on our street one cold evening. I took him a coffee and something to eat.” However, others saw the funny side with Lee Harris stating: “Love it” and Nikki Moore said: “This is brilliant.”

It comes after a drunk man who staged a protest outside a hotel after being refused entry by staff soon realised his embarrassing mistake. Police responded to reports of an intoxicated man lying in protest on the pavement outside of the Premier Inn in Bournemouth in the early hours of July 17, 2022.

However after being refused what he thought was his hotel room, he decided to lie down on the ground outside the hotel – until he was stopped by Dorset Police. The man, who thought he was at the hotel room he had paid for, chose to protest sitting down until staff let him in.

The drunk man, however, had in fact gone to the wrong hotel – as he didn’t have a booking with them. After trying to find out from the drunk man which hotel he had booked police safely escorted him to his nearby hotel.

Dorset Police tweeted : “Officers have dealt with an intoxicated man who was trying to gain entry to a hotel where he didn’t have booking. He laid on the floor in protest. Officers returned him to the hotel he has a booking for over the road.”
