FKA Twigs angered fans when she announced that she was she’d be withdrawing from the Coachella 2025 line-up, with her prime spot replaced by singer Ed Sheeran. The sudden news disappointed many fans who were eager to hear her music and new album, Eusexua, live.

The last-minute cancellation news comes just days before the infamous festival is set to take place. This year, Coachella will be from April 11 to April 20, with acts like Lady Gaga and Travis Scott preparing to take to the stage.

FKA Twigs, who has been making music since the age of 16, is currently promoting her latest album while touring around Europe, UK, and the US. However, the singer has recently gone viral for a number of controversies, including a Discord rant to her fanbase, known as “twiglets” and a slew of postponed tour dates.

She recently made headlines for her hit song Childlike Things, which featured Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s daughter, North West. Even though fans labelled the song and the accompanying music video as “inappropriate,” Kim simply said she was “proud” of her daughter’s recent music collaboration. Here’s a deeper look at FKA Twig’s most controversial moments over the last couple of months…

FKA Twigs was scheduled to perform around the US as part of her Eusexua Tour. However, it was revealed that the 37-year-old had to pull out of the shows at the last minute over visa issues, according to the BBC reported.

Confirming the news on social media, she blamed her team for not getting the appropriate visa and paperwork needed before she was due to travel. FKA Twigs said in an Instagram video: “Production did not fill out the paperwork in a timely manner” adding that she felt “super let down.”

The singer also announced that due to her US shows being affected, her performances in Canada would also be postponed. Nonetheless, the dates were said to be rescheduled.

FKA Twigs was scheduled to perform at Coachella 2025 during weekends one and two. However, due to ongoing visa issues, she was forced to cancel her Coachella set.

Announcing the news on her X page, she wrote: “I’m devastated to share the news that due to ongoing visa issues I am not able to see through any of my scheduled tour dates for the remainder of April across north America, including Ceremonia and Coachella.”

Fans expressed their anger and frustration by calling her “unprofessional” as many were travelling from far away and had already spent their money on tickets and accommodations. Ed Sheeran has since replaced her Coachella slot.

FKA Twigs shared in a lengthy statement that she was “truly sorry” for postponing more of her Eusexua tour dates, including shows in Prague and Berlin, but that it was a decision “completely beyond her control.”

“There was an issue with material for the staging getting there in time and even though I was so defiant and thought I could figure it out how I always do, this time I just couldn’t,” she said in a Discord chat. “The truth is I have worked so hard on Eusexua, every detail. Jordan and I stay up all night planning every single last type face, logo, word, colour grading, edit, message. Lewis and I did the same thing across the record every last decision was planned down to the last drop.”

“It’s taken me years to make this,” she added. “And as somebody said earlier I haven’t had a manager or a team for the majority of this era. Just Jordan and I and the kitchen table at 2am.”

FKA Twigs revealed on her Discord channel that she hasn’t taken a day off or slept more than five hours in over a year. She wrote: “Sometimes I am so tired people talk about me and I can barely comprehend what they are saying because I feel out of my tiny mind.”

“I am not complaining at all I loved what I do but I have not taken a day off or had more than 5 hours of sleep in about a year lol,” FKA Twigs added. “Everything, everything I do is for you. To create art, something different, bold, beautiful, queer, bizarre, truthful, crafted. I do it because honestly not many people are. And I do it for you.”

Fans showed their support to the singer on the comments section, many suggesting for her to take a break, and for her to get a manager to help her organise her schedules.

FKA Twigs went on a full rant amid the backlash received from fans who complained about her shows being postponed numerous times, claiming that no other artists had her “skill set.”

Naming some of her skills as being a director, producer, pop singer, song writer, creative director, fashion icon, and a dog mum, she wrote: “And my own twiglets are gonna try and turn on mother? Why because of two very unfortunate rescheduled shows and some mainstream attention.”

“We should be celebrating right now. You should be out there supporting me and being proud to be part of this fandom,” she said. “You are winning and you can’t even see it. Too busy in a parasocial nightmare. Wake up.”
