Comedian John Bishop was on board a flight that could have descended into chaos. Instead, the Scouse comic was quick to praise the actions of the staff on board, saying they could not have handled the situation better.

The 58-year-old star was travelling between Palma and Gatwick when the flight ran into a number of complications. He explain how once on board the easyJet journey passengers were faced with an air traffic delay. He told his Twitter/X followers: “The captain came out and explained the situation and invited anyone with children who wanted to use the 45 minutes delay to come and visit the cockpit.”

He then said: “Once we took off there was medical emergency which meant half the cabin were occupied dealing with the situation. The remaining crew managed to deal with everyone else with good humour and all the passengers seemed to act with respect and patience.

“When we landed the captain explained that the medical emergency would be dealt with at the front and asked passengers to disembark through tje [sic] rear row by row.”

Quick to praise staff, he gushed it was the “perfect example of how to manage a situation” before adding: “I wanted to congratulate the captain and the crew because it could not have been handled better.”

The update comes after John revealed he was stopping his role on ITV chat show The John Bishop Show. He said in February that competing with TV favourites like Graham Norton and Jonathan Ross is a tough gig.

However, he admitted he will be focusing on another big project.

Speaking about his decision to quit the show, John was quoted in the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV section: “I’m not going to do another series of my chat show. It was great to do, but I found that I was competing in a space that was congested.

“Graham Norton is brilliant at it and Jonathan Ross is brilliant at it. We really don’t need another chat show.”

The popular show first started in January 2022. He remained quiet since its final episode in February 2023 and he has now confirmed it won’t be returning.

Despite comparing the show to similar hits, the comedian did interview some major names during his 13 episodes.

Among those who had appeared on the show were Michelle Keegan, Maya Jama, Ian McKellen, and Richard E. Grant. However, he has admitted he didn’t love the TV format.

He revealed that he preferred longer conversations that he carried out on his podcast, titled The Bishop Exchange. The comedian then suggested that fans could find him there for more of the content they love.
