EastEnders fans have been calling for the return of Sean Slater – but they might not recognise him if he made a reappearance on Albert Square.

Actor Rob Kazinsky, 41, played the troubled ex-squaddie from 2006 until 2009, before making brief returns in 2019 and 2021. He was last on the show in 2022 when his character made a video call to his mum Jean during a manic episode. During his time on the show, some of Sean was at the heart of some of the soap’s biggest storylines that touched upon male mental health, love triangles, and violent outbursts.

Just recently, his character was name checked as Sean has been looking after his sister Stacey – off screen – as she struggled to cope with the aftermath of Martin Fowler’s brutal death in the Queen Vic.

Since quitting the BBC soap, Rob has found genuine Hollywood success in a series of huge films and TV shows, and there’s more coming.

In 2016, he fulfilled a lifelong dream to bring his beloved hobby World of Warcraft to life in a movie based on the nerdy fantasy role play game, taking on the role of Orgrim Doomhammer.

That same year he appeared as Jimmy Pritchard in the Fox television series Second Chance, and in 2019, he entered the Marvel universe when he portrayed the Don in Captain Marvel.

He will be fulfilling another childhood dream when he appears in a new Star Trek movie, Section 31.

He told Forbes that he’s been a proud Trekkie since he was eight or nine after first experiencing the groundbreaking sci-fi franchise while on holiday at Butlin’s in Bognor Regis, and it’s a trait that runs in the family.

“My mum’s a huge Trekker. She’s a massive fan of the original series,” he said. “Star Trek: Generations was showing because it had just come out, so I watched it in the theatre at Butlins, and my life was forever changed.

“After that, I was like, ‘Mum, show me more,’ and then she showed me what, in my opinion, is to this day the best Star Trek film is Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home which is a masterpiece.”
