Dan Edgar has addressed his split from Ella Rae Wise for the first time as she broke down in tears on Celebrity Big Brother. The TOWIE star, 24, and Dan, 34, called it quits just a week before she entered the Big Brother house and put into lockdown.
Just before entering the house, Ella shared some reasons behind their split. She said that while their chemistry was undeniable, she wanted more from the relationship than just physical attraction.
Dan, meanwhile, was said to have been left “blindsided” by Ella’s brag in her VT for the reality show. In the clip, she said: “I could literally float with a loaf of bread. I could flirt with anything! I’m flirting with the camera.”
On Wednesday night’s episode, Ella was comforted by her housemates JoJo Siwa and Angellica Bell as she broke down in tears about the very recent heartbreak.
She told her co-stars: “It’s just one of them things. I just feel like an idiot because everyone… I just knew he weren’t gonna be what I wanted him to be. And I thought maybe he might for me but he’s just…And I don’t want to waste years trying to change someone. Do you know what I mean?”
Following the emotional scene, Dan has now spoke out for the first time about the split. He said in a statement: “The past week has seen a strange turn of events and things have been said that I didn’t really want to comment on, but to put it straight, Ella and I agreed to go our separate ways amicably last week, and were speaking right up until she left to go into the house.
“I think we both have our reasons for why it wasn’t working out, but there are certain things in life I would rather keep private. I wish her all the best and hope she enjoys her experience.”
Ella had expressed her sadness as she confirmed her split with Dan just hours before entering the house. “We are not together. And it’s really, really sad that we’re not together. We split up a week ago,” she told The Sun.
“It has nothing to do with Big Brother. It was a decision that I had to make because I didn’t feel that we were getting things that we wanted out of each other.” We can be best friends, but if something’s missing, what are we wasting our time for?”
She claimed Dan was “very set in his ways,” and she can’t expect him to change. “It’s just not enough for me,” she said, speaking on “what he gives in a relationship”.
Despite the fresh split, Celebrity Big Brother fans think Love Island’s Chris Hughes could be the one to mend her broken heart. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: “The way they put the camera straight on Chris when Ella came in they want a showmance chile not subtle at all.”
A second agreed: “The camera IMMEDIATELY panning to Chris when Ella walked in lmao. They know what they’re doing,” while a third said: “Chris seeing Ella walk in the house. He’s going to go for her, isn’t he?! #CBBUK”. “Calling it now Chris and Ella are gonna have a showmance I can just see it #CelebrityBigBrother #CBB,” echoed another.
