Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, announced on Friday a global recall of more than 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt issue. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2026, which may have a second-row center or driver side seat belt buckle anchor that was not properly attached to the vehicle’s body structure. This issue could compromise the second-row seat belt system’s performance, potentially increasing the risk of injury to occupants. Stellantis has identified one injury linked to the recall but no fatalities.
The recall involves approximately 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and around 75,000 in other regions outside North America. Affected vehicle owners will be contacted by the automaker to arrange an inspection with authorized dealers. During the inspection, dealers will examine the second-row center and driver seat belt buckle anchor and securely attach it to the vehicle’s body if necessary.
