Tesco is preparing to launch over 70 new Express stores throughout the United Kingdom following the acquisition of former Amazon Fresh locations.

The transition will involve the rebranding and conversion of numerous Amazon Fresh sites into Tesco Express stores by March of next year. Notable locations set to reopen under the Tesco banner include Kensington High Street, Hounslow, Moorgate, Aldgate East, and Wembley, all situated in London, with plans for reopening before summer. Amazon had closed its remaining 19 Fresh stores in September last year.

Nick Johnson, Tesco Group Property Director, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, emphasizing the company’s commitment to creating employment opportunities and supporting local economies across the UK. He highlighted the goal of reaching more customers in various communities with quality products, great value, and exceptional customer service.

Struggling households are being encouraged to check eligibility for up to £500 in energy bill assistance provided by Worcestershire County Council, specifically targeting residents of Malvern, Worcester, Wychavon, Bromsgrove, Redditch, or Wyre Forest District with a gross household income of £24,570 or less annually for single individuals without children.

Furthermore, nurseries have received a warning against imposing additional charges on parents for utilizing their allocated free childcare hours, which are available for children aged between nine months and four years. Updated guidelines from the Department of Education emphasize that free hours should not come with any hidden or mandatory fees, although optional extras such as meals and trips may incur additional charges.

InPost, a parcel locker group, has agreed to be acquired by a consortium led by delivery giant FedEx and private equity firm Advent for £6.8 billion. The deal will enable InPost to maintain its brand identity as a standalone entity, headquartered in Poland, with the current CEO continuing in their role. The agreement aims to expand InPost’s presence in key markets across Europe, including the UK, with plans to increase the number of locker points to 30,000 from the current 14,000.
