A woman’s body was tragically found in the charred remains of a residence that was engulfed in flames earlier tonight. The victim, believed to be in her 60s, was discovered deceased at a property in Chester Downes, Limerick, Ireland, following a fire incident reported by The Irish Mirror.

Upon receiving a report of a house fire around 5:22 pm, firefighters from the Limerick City and County Fire and Rescue Service swiftly responded to the scene. Despite their prompt arrival within four minutes, they sadly located the woman’s lifeless body inside the property.

Four units from the fire service’s city station promptly arrived at the scene and successfully extinguished the fire, with the final unit returning to base at Mulgrave Street by 7:15 pm. Authorities have cordoned off the property, indicating no suspicion of foul play in the incident.

Friends of the deceased woman commemorated her as a devoted and hardworking mother, expressing their condolences for the tragic loss. The Garda released a statement confirming an investigation into the fatal house fire on the evening of January 17, 2026, in Singland, Limerick city.

The statement clarified that emergency services were alerted to the blaze at a Chesterfield Downs residence around 5:30 pm, resulting in the unfortunate death of a woman in her 60s. The scene remains intact for technical examination, pending the results of a post-mortem examination that will guide the ongoing Garda investigation.
