The wife of a dedicated father who was fatally struck by a police car in central London has expressed her heartfelt tribute to her beloved husband. Australian David Clark tragically lost his life after being hit by a marked police vehicle in Borough on January 7. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is currently investigating the incident, confirming that two police vehicles stopped to offer assistance, but Mr. Clark was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement, Mrs. Clark described her husband’s passing as creating an irreplaceable void in their lives, with her primary focus now on caring for their seven-month-old daughter.

Mr. Clark, an Australian national residing in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, was identified by the IOPC as the pedestrian involved in the fatal collision with a Metropolitan Police vehicle. The investigation revealed that the incident occurred when two police vehicles were responding to an emergency call, with sirens and emergency lights activated. The collision took place as the first police vehicle passed through a junction, colliding with Mr. Clark as he crossed the road.

Mrs. Clark expressed gratitude for the support received during this challenging time and emphasized the family’s need for privacy as they mourn their loss and focus on honoring David’s life out of the public eye.

IOPC Director Amanda Rowe extended condolences to Mr. Clark’s family and friends, both in the UK and Australia, assuring ongoing support and updates throughout the investigation. Friends of the Clark family have initiated a GoFundMe page to assist with repatriating Mr. Clark’s body to Australia, raising over £15,000 to date.
