Lewis Hamilton, a prominent figure in Formula 1, advocates for Africa to gain independence from the control of countries like Britain, France, Spain, and others to reclaim its resources. The seasoned racer also expresses his desire for the sport to return to the African continent before his retirement.

During a conversation leading up to the Australian Grand Prix marking the start of the 2026 season in Melbourne, Hamilton, responding to a South African journalist’s inquiry about the possibility of a race in Africa, shared his aspiration for such an event. He highlighted his concerns about the ongoing exploitation of the continent.

Describing Africa as a stunning region, Hamilton emphasized the need for unity among the various nations to take back control of their resources. He stressed the importance of African countries reclaiming their sovereignty from external powers for the continent’s future prosperity.

Hamilton, eager to see Formula 1 races return to Africa, points out that no Grand Prix has been held on the continent since 1993. He mentions his positive experiences in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, and South Africa, suggesting these locations as potential venues for future races.

Expressing his personal connection to Africa due to his heritage, Hamilton is actively pushing for the inclusion of an African race on the Formula 1 calendar before he retires. He is engaged in discussions with Formula 1 decision-makers to make this vision a reality, emphasizing the significance of such an event for him.
