Sky has introduced two new smart home plans in the UK, offering internet-connected cameras and cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month. This pricing is significantly lower than purchasing a Ring system from Amazon, potentially saving consumers over £100.
The first plan includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month plus a £15 upfront fee. It features full HD video recording, instant alerts to your phone, customizable activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For added security, the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ is available for £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and additional app features like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the goal of making high-quality smart technology more accessible and user-friendly. These new plans expand Sky’s offerings beyond the Protect Smart Home Insurance, now allowing standalone purchases of Sky Smart Home products.
In comparison, Amazon sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, requiring a Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month for cloud recording access. Sky’s new plans aim to provide affordable and easy-to-use home security solutions to a wider audience.
