Britons are preparing for an incoming massive snow wall, stretching a whopping 656 miles from London to just south of John O’Groats. This snow system is expected to hit the UK by the end of January, according to weather forecasts from WXCharts.

The weather maps indicate a significant snow band moving eastward over Bulgaria and Hungary on January 30, with wintry conditions predicted to reach the UK by 6 am the following morning. Most of the UK is anticipated to experience severe weather on Saturday, January 31, with Cornwall and Northern Ireland being the only regions likely to be spared from snowfall.

Temperatures are forecasted to drop as low as -5°C in some parts of the country, while Europe braces for even colder weather conditions. The maps illustrate a widespread coverage of snow from coast to coast, encompassing areas north of London, Wales, most of England, and a significant portion of Scotland. Snowfall is expected to start settling over northern England and Scotland by midday, with lesser chances in the southern regions.

Southern England is set to face bitter cold, with temperatures plummeting to -3°C in the Cotswolds by early Saturday morning, potentially leading to icy road conditions. The Midlands may see temperatures above freezing, while the north could experience lows of -2°C, as reported by the Express.

In rural areas of Scotland, temperatures could dip to a chilly -5°C, although major cities like Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and Glasgow are expected to hover around the freezing mark. Wales and Northern Ireland might experience temperatures ranging from freezing to -2°C, with the latter anticipating rain rather than snow.

The Met Office acknowledges the challenges in predicting snowfall but has hinted at cold weather and possible snow in its extended forecast for the upcoming four weeks. The forecast suggests a battle between Atlantic weather systems trying to move in from the west and high pressure along with colder conditions influencing from the east.

There is a growing probability of colder conditions and potential snow as the next fortnight progresses, with early February posing a risk of wintry hazards. Looking ahead to the latter part of February, a shift towards more unsettled conditions and a rise in temperatures back to average levels might occur, as per the Met Office’s outlook.
