A man’s disturbing verbal abuse towards his partner, threatening to kill her, has been captured in a distressing recording during her pregnancy and post-childbirth period. Brandon-Lee Chambers, who physically assaulted his victim, including strangulation, following her Caesarean delivery, can be heard in the recording issuing threats and insults towards her as she pleads for mercy. The victim, in a display of bravery, stands up to her abuser, expressing fear for herself and their baby.

Over a span from January to June 2023, Chambers engaged in a series of violent acts against his partner, such as strangling her, physically assaulting her, and causing her injuries severe enough to hinder her ability to care for their newborn. At a sentencing session at Truro Crown Court, it was revealed that Chambers had violently confronted his pregnant partner by choking her and pushing her against a sink unit in their Redruth residence.

The day after the birth, Chambers, a 28-year-old resident of Falmouth, resumed his abusive behavior by strangling his partner while she was recovering from the delivery. A distressing recording shared by Chambers’ ex-partner captures the harrowing moments when he inflicted physical harm on her, causing her pain and distress.

The court learned that Chambers subjected his partner to a cycle of abuse, including coercive behavior, physical assault, and intentional strangulation, all with the intent to control and intimidate her. Eventually, the victim reported the abuse to authorities, leading to Chambers’ arrest and subsequent admission of guilt to multiple charges related to the abusive incidents.

In the sentencing, Judge James Adkin underscored the gravity of Chambers’ actions, emphasizing his history of domestic abuse and the detrimental impact on his vulnerable victim. Chambers received a 36-month prison sentence, with a requirement to serve half the term before being eligible for release on license. Additionally, a restraining order was issued prohibiting Chambers from contacting his victim for seven years or visiting a specified address in Redruth.

The court’s decision serves as a significant step towards justice for the victim, acknowledging the severity of the abuse and the need to hold perpetrators of domestic violence accountable for their actions.
