Nigel Farage has been criticized by a senior union leader for not genuinely caring about the working class in Britain. TUC General Secretary Paul Nowak accused Farage, the leader of Reform, of being a deceptive figure and intentionally creating divisions for personal political advantages.

Nowak called on the Labour party to confront Farage and demonstrate its support for ordinary citizens. He emphasized that Farage’s portrayal of Britain as broken is misleading and highlighted the disconnect between his patriotic facade and his negative rhetoric about the country and its working people.

The TUC leader pointed out Reform’s opposition to enhanced worker protections in the Employment Rights Bill and alleged Farage’s desire to replace the NHS with a model based on US-style health insurance. Although Farage has discussed potential changes to NHS funding, he has assured that the service would remain free at the point of use.

Nowak expressed concern over the alarming and divisive nature of the immigration debate, which he believes Farage exacerbates by targeting scapegoats within communities. He stressed the importance of the government demonstrating its commitment to supporting working-class communities against opportunistic figures like Farage.

Moreover, Nowak highlighted the public’s innate sense of fairness and decency, suggesting that most Britons would be troubled by the fear and harassment inflicted on their neighbors due to the actions of individuals like Farage.
