Samsung TV owners in the UK are in for a treat with a significant free upgrade on the horizon. UKTV has announced that its popular free-to-air linear channels will soon be accessible on Samsung screens, allowing UK viewers to enjoy a variety of bonus content without the need for additional devices.
The channels will be streamed via the internet, eliminating the requirement for a traditional aerial setup. In addition, Samsung will introduce a dedicated section on its home screen to showcase content from the U streaming service, making it easier for users to discover and watch classic comedies, dramas, and factual shows without navigating through menus.
In the coming months, Samsung TV users can expect channels such as U&DRAMA, U&Dave, U&YESTERDAY, U&W, and U&eden to be directly accessible through Samsung’s Universal Guide, enhancing the viewing experience for millions of Samsung TV owners. These channels will be featured in the platform’s ‘Live’ tab and Universal Guide, ensuring easy access to UKTV’s live and on-demand content for viewers who rely on internet-based TV services.
Jonathan Newman, General Manager of Commercial at UKTV and BBC Studios UK and Ireland, expressed excitement about the strengthened partnership with Samsung, emphasizing the increased accessibility of the U app to Samsung customers and the enhanced visibility of UKTV’s diverse content offerings.
Dan Harvie, Vice President of Home Entertainment and Appliances at Samsung UK and Ireland, highlighted the importance of UKTV’s contribution to the entertainment lineup on Samsung TVs. He underlined Samsung’s commitment to enhancing the entertainment experience for customers by providing access to a wide range of broadcast content through collaborations like the one with UKTV.
Although an official launch date has not been announced, the new features are anticipated to roll out on Samsung TVs soon, promising an enriched viewing experience for users.
