An eight-year-old child was tragically abducted and killed by a malevolent murderer who later dismembered the body, storing the victim’s feet in his freezer. Levi Aron, the twisted perpetrator, passed away in custody last month, coinciding with the 15th anniversary of the heinous crime.
The unfortunate incident unfolded when the young boy, Leiby Kletzky, ventured home alone for the first time. Lost and seeking directions, he approached Aron, leading to a series of tragic events.
Following the child’s disappearance on July 11, 2011, in Borough Park, Brooklyn, a massive search effort was launched by the tight-knit Orthodox Jewish community. Aron deceitfully misled the boy to a wedding before eventually confessing to the horrific crime.
Authorities discovered the gruesome truth when surveillance footage and forensic evidence linked Aron to the crime scene. The killer admitted to the abduction and murder, resulting in a 40-year to life prison sentence.
After nearly 15 years behind bars, Aron’s life ended in a hospital at the age of 49 due to undisclosed medical complications. His family, who faced threats following the murder, requested an autopsy, while the victim’s father denounced the killer’s actions as senseless and malicious.
The state Department of Correction and Community Supervision confirmed Aron’s passing, noting that his death was anticipated, although no specific cause was disclosed.
