US President Donald Trump made an appearance at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium amidst a mix of cheers and jeers from the crowd as he settled in to watch the 2026 College Football Playoff national championship game.

Trump was in Miami to witness the Miami Hurricanes take on the Indiana Hoosiers in the 2026 CFP national championship on January 19. As the national anthem played and Trump was displayed on the stadium’s big screen, a blend of cheers and boos resonated throughout the venue, according to reports from the Express.

The game features top-ranked Indiana facing off against the tenth-ranked Miami for the national title in Miami, Florida. The White House confirmed President Trump’s attendance at the game, where he was accompanied by Florida native Marco Rubio, the current Secretary of State and former senator of Florida.

Trump’s presence at the game was part of his schedule for Martin Luther King Day, marking his third College Football Playoff national championship game. He had previously attended the 2018 Alabama Georgia game and the 2020 Clemson LSU match-up.

While the audience primarily focused on enjoying the game, viewers across America and the world tuned in with particular interest in the US President, who has been causing friction with European leaders due to sanctions and his pursuit to acquire Greenland.

The game took place shortly after an NBA event in London where a spectator protested against Trump’s Greenland endeavors, prompting applause from the crowd after the US national anthem. This incident highlighted the growing tensions surrounding Trump’s efforts concerning the Arctic island.
