A young man discovered his mother had passed away on the morning of Christmas Day. The day before, Louise McKenzie, 38, received medical attention for an inflamed pancreas, which she was reassured was not serious. After a quick Christmas shopping trip, they returned home to Bootle, Merseyside.

Louise began feeling unwell, experiencing dizziness and a headache, prompting her to rest. Her son Reece Barrett, 18, recounted how he found her asleep upstairs, snoring, before going to bed himself. Upon waking up the next morning, he discovered his mother on the bathroom floor and realized she had passed away.

Despite efforts to revive her, Louise was pronounced dead at home. Reece, a civil servant, described his mother as a kind and sociable person, emphasizing her caring nature towards him and their dog. It was determined that Louise had likely succumbed to a brain hemorrhage.

Reece is currently residing with his girlfriend’s family until he can secure a permanent living arrangement for himself and their pet dog. Reflecting on the tragic events, he expressed regret for not recognizing the seriousness of his mother’s symptoms earlier.

A fundraiser has been initiated by Holly’s mother to support Reece during this challenging period. Facing the prospect of independent living and financial responsibilities, Reece acknowledged the necessity of accepting help during this difficult time.
