A man has tragically passed away in a hospital following his rescue from the River Soar outside a secondary school in Leicester. The incident occurred in the evening, prompting urgent medical attention, but unfortunately, the man could not be revived and was declared deceased later on. Law enforcement and forensic teams were observed at the secondary school site.
Investigators were seen collecting wet clothing and various items for examination while the cordoned-off area at Richard III Road, near Castle Mead Academy, was eventually cleared. Authorities later confirmed the man’s death after he was retrieved from the river earlier in the evening.
According to a statement provided to LeicestershireLive, police responded to a call on Richard III Road after the man was rescued by the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The authorities do not suspect any foul play, and preparations are underway for the Coroner’s investigation and identification process.
At the scene, two police cars were present, securing the area with a cordon to maintain public safety while conducting inquiries. The cordon contained various items, including wet clothes and a possible paramedic blanket.
