Tennis legend Andy Murray and his family were left devastated by the passing of their two beloved dogs – Maggie May in 2022, followed by border terrier Rusty two years later. In 2025, Murray, along with his wife Kim and their four children, welcomed a new furry family member by adopting a retriever named Bonnie. Despite the joy of their new companion, Murray, 38, openly expressed the sorrow of losing their previous pets.
The family, who moved to their current residence in Leatherhead in 2022 after selling their previous mansion for £5 million, now resides in a luxurious Surrey home featuring a swimming pool, massage room, changing facilities, and sauna. Murray confessed that the absence of Maggie and Rusty made the house feel noticeably different.
Reflecting on the impact of their dogs’ deaths, Murray shared how integral their pets were to their daily routine and family life. The loss was particularly challenging for the children, who experienced grief for the first time, but they supported each other through the difficult period by reminiscing about the fond memories of Rusty.
Having earned around £50 million in prize money from his tennis career and additional income from sponsorships and business ventures, Murray retired from the sport in 2024. This decision allowed him more quality time with his family and recently, with their new furry friend Bonnie.
Murray acknowledged that his retirement was timely, as his body signaled the end of his professional tennis days. With the Australian Open 2026 currently ongoing in Melbourne, fans can catch all the live action on TNT Sports via Prime Video’s TNT Sports channel.
