A 16-year-old teenager was apprehended following a stabbing incident at a German kebab eatery in a UK urban center. Law enforcement officials are probing the assault that occurred at a takeaway spot in Leicester’s city hub around midday on January 15, leading to a cordoned-off area outside the premises. The victim was promptly transported to a medical facility, and subsequent to that, authorities disclosed the detention of a 16-year-old suspect on charges of attempted murder.

According to the Leicestershire Police, the incident unfolded at German Doner Kebab situated at the intersection of Granby Street and Bishop Street, shortly after 1 pm on Thursday, where the 19-year-old victim received treatment for stab wounds and was subsequently admitted to a hospital, reportedly in a stable condition. A police representative mentioned that the detained youth is currently in custody, urging individuals possessing information or footage related to the case to collaborate with law enforcement.

The spokesperson stated: “In connection with an investigation into a stabbing at Leicester’s Granby Street, a 16-year-old individual has been arrested. The apprehended teenager, suspected of attempted murder, remains in custody.”

“Police were notified shortly after 1 pm following a report of a 19-year-old being stabbed. The victim was transported to the hospital by the East Midlands Ambulance Service, where he is stable and receiving medical care.”

“We continue to seek assistance from anyone who can aid the ongoing police inquiries, including those in possession of mobile phone, CCTV, or dashcam footage. Information can be shared via the Leicestershire Police website, citing incident 313 of January 15, or by calling 101.”

Simon Wallis, the chief executive of German Doner Kebab (GDK), expressed solidarity with those impacted, confirming the restaurant’s resumption of operations. He conveyed: “Yesterday’s incident in Leicester city center is acknowledged. Our thoughts are with those affected. GDK Leicester was temporarily closed to cooperate with the police probe and has now been given the green light to reopen this evening.”

“Our team and customers’ safety is paramount, and we will continue to assist the authorities in every possible way.”
